Passport to Social Studies for all grades:
Our social studies curriculum is taught through The NYCDOE K-8: Passport to Social Studies Program. It is a comprehensive curriculum designed to ignite students’ curiosity about the world around them. For example, in third grade, this program introduces key concepts such as world geography and diverse global communities through engaging activities and lessons. Throughout the year, students explore various cultures, starting with an introduction to world geography and world communities. They then dive into detailed case studies of communities in China, Nigeria, Egypt, and Peru. By examining these diverse cultures and regions, students develop a deeper understanding of global diversity and interconnectedness. Through inquiry-based learning and collaborative projects, students not only gain knowledge but also develop essential skills like communication and problem-solving. Overall, Passport to Social Studies provides a rich learning experience that prepares students to be informed and engaged global citizens.
