SEL (Social-Emotional Learning)

  

Social-emotional learning is essential in helping our students lead healthy and fulfilling lives. It benefits academic achievement and positive behaviors both in and out of the classroom. The five concepts we focus on are: self-awareness, self-management, social-awareness, relationship skills and responsible decision making.  

Special assemblies and activities such as the Harlem GlobeTrotters, Musical IQ, Lunar New Year Show, Multi-Cultural Show, parades, chess, a fall and spring festival are all planned to help support students in building social skills, such as relationship building and communication skills. In the classroom, the teacher holds discussions related to empathy and caring for one another.  There is a Respect for all Art Gallery where students enjoy a short video dedicated to a school community member.  The class then takes a tour to enjoy the wonderful artwork created by our talented students.  The artwork promotes the five Superpowers (or positive energies): RESPECT, THANKFULNESS, LOVE, KINDNESS and EMPATHY.

为了帮助学生培养社交技能,如建立关系和沟通技能,我们还计划了一些特别的集会和活动,如Harlem GlobeTrotters, Musical IQ、农历新年表演、多元文化表演、游行、象棋课、秋季和春季艺术节等。在课堂上,老师会就换位思考和相互关爱进行讨论。 在"Respect for all Art"艺术长廊,学生们可以欣赏到一段献给学校社区成员的视频短片。 然后,全班同学参观欣赏由才华横溢的学生创作的精彩艺术作品。 这些艺术作品弘扬了五种超级力量(或正能量): 尊重、感恩、爱、仁慈和同情。
